- After successfully
hosting a clinical refresher course for Cambodia's
provincial doctors coordinated by the Ministry of
Health and WHO at the Kantha Bopha Center in Angkor,
the Kantha Bopha Hospitals, in collaboration with the
Ministry of Health and WHO proposed to jointly
organize and host an International Conference on
Dengue Fever.
- Dengue Fever in
Cambodia is no longer an epidemic but rather, has
reached endemic proportions. Thousands of children in
a state of shock or pre-shock have to be hospitalized
every year.
- We are keen to
learn what is actually known about all the different
aspects of Dengue Fever. We are keen to learn what can
be done better and what is actually being done in the
field of research and development of medicines and
drugs; what are the perspectives for the near
future.
- We are pleased that
the Dengue project managers for all ASEAN countries
are present.
- We are very happy
and grateful that so many experts and such prominent
key speakers from all over the world have accepted our
invitation.
- I extend a
heartfelt welcome to all the participants and I hope
the work we will accomplish during these two intensive
days will help brighten the darkness of Dengue fever
suffering.
